First day of spring
Ahh, the first day of spring. It has so many meanings for me.
For one it is my anniversary, a day I chose in the solar year to celebrate the building of a new family. It is the spring solstice, where light and dark hours are perfectly equal. After today the amount of daylight only gets longer. I’m a sucker for metaphors and this one speaks to me. After a long winter, bone chillingly cold, days of dark, limitations, heaviness, contraction, contraction of the soul.. it is time for the year to change. It’s time for seeds/bulbs long buried under the soil to start surfacing and share their magical color with the world. It is a time for the seeds of change I planted in my heart to emerge. Knowing the light gets longer and longer with each passing day fills me with hope. Knowing that another year of marriage is still here adds light to my day.
