Integration after a psychedelic cannabis journey is time to notice what stayed with you. That might be a sensation, an emotion, a memory, an image, a spiritual impression, or a change in how a familiar situation looks. You do not have to turn any of it into an immediate change.
The journey itself can be subtle or intensely psychedelic, clear or hard to summarize. Integration does not grade that. It asks what, if anything, feels significant now, and how you want to relate to it in ordinary life.
Preparation, the session, and the legal boundaries are in What Is a Psychedelic Cannabis Journey?. Attention while the journey is happening is in Somatic awareness and psychedelic cannabis journeywork. This piece starts afterward.
What an integration meeting is for
Integration meetings take place in the days after a journey. You and I look at what actually stood out, including hours that felt ordinary, confusing, beautiful, or unfinished.
Some of it may connect with a pattern you already know. You go quiet when someone is disappointed. You agree before you have checked what you want. You understand the pattern and still lose it in the moment. Some of what arose will not connect with any of that, and it does not need to. A sensation without a story can still be what you remember.
There is no assignment to leave with a new boundary, a new habit, or a conclusion. If something feels worth carrying into daily life, you can name it and say how small the next step would have to be to be real. If nothing feels ready, that is a complete result for the meeting. Insight can sit for a while before it becomes a choice.
You can book integration after a journey you took on your own, as well as after a guided session. The FAQ covers that.
How a meeting tends to move
I do not ask you to retell the journey from the first minute to the last. I may ask what you remember in your body: a place that felt warm, a moment you wanted to speak and did not, an image that keeps returning, or a long stretch you cannot describe. “I don’t know yet” is a usable answer.
Then you look at whether any of it meets your actual week. Suppose, with the eye mask on, you noticed how quickly you started explaining yourself. In the meeting you might recognize the same rush when you answer a text. If you want a next step, it can be small enough to be real: wait until morning before answering one low-stakes message. You can also notice the rush and change nothing this week. Both are valid.
A quiet journey gets the same room. You might talk about what it was like to stay with very little happening, whether you tried to force an insight, and what you need the day after a long rest. Quiet is not a failed session.
Staying near what was meaningful
Between meetings, some people keep a light thread with the experience:
- a few lines about sensation, written without an explanation attached;
- a walk, with no agenda to process anything;
- time outside, or making something with the hands;
- a shorter schedule for a day or two, with fewer demands on the nervous system.
These are options. Missing them does not undo the journey, and doing all of them is not a program you pass. If a practice starts to feel like homework, you can drop it.
What you are not required to do is decide, on the same day, who you will be different with, which relationship has to change, or what the images “meant.” Meaning can come later, from you. I will not assign it.
The first day or two
People are often tired, tender, or more easily stirred after a long inward session. Food, water, sleep, and a simpler evening are practical. So is telling someone you trust that you may be quiet.
If you are frightened, unable to rest across a sustained stretch, losing touch with where you are, or worried about your safety, contact a licensed clinician or emergency services. Integration support with I am non-clinical. It sits beside therapy or medical care when you already have them. It does not replace either.
Cannabis choices for a future journey, including THC, CBD, and CBN, belong in preparation, not in the integration meeting. That conversation is in Cannabis, THC, CBD, and CBN: What to Consider Before a Journey.
A consultation, if you want one
I offer integration in Baltimore, Maryland, and online worldwide where lawful. Guided journeys are in person in Baltimore. I do not provide cannabis, and I do not diagnose or treat medical or psychiatric conditions.
If you want to ask whether integration, a guided journey, or neither fits, a short conversation is enough to start.
